India’s obsession with tea is not a secret. Right from the start of the day, with a steaming hot cup of chai, to sipping on it in every break through the day, people never miss a chance to enjoy tea. On top of this, it’s difficult to resist tea when it can warm you up instantly in the bone-chilling temperature outside. Having said that, you will be amazed to see how a bus driver from Delhi went out of his way to fetch his cup of hot tea. In a video posted on Twitter, the man can be seen stopping his bus right in the middle of a busy road for his beloved beverage.

In the clip, we can see a driver of a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus who stops the vehicle near a tea stall blocking the way of other cars and bikes on the road. He rushes to the tea stall, buys a cup of tea, and gets back to the bus as other drivers can be heard honking continuously. The person who filmed the video is heard saying that the bus driver wanted to drink “Sudama ki chai” so he stopped for a tea break.

The video collected close to 70,000 views on the platform and drew a number of reactions.

Some users identified the tea stall as the Sudama Tea Stall in north Delhi, which is popular among Delhi University students.

A Twitter user who seemed annoyed by the act wrote, “Please suspend his license for a good amount of time. Such acts if unpunished shall only lead to increase in recurrences We may take it as a meme/joke but such acts shouldn’t be encouraged.”

One person wrote, “This is very common and irritating in Delhi. Bus drivers stop in the middle of the road for food, water, chai, liquor etc., without worrying about the traffic. This is common because no one stops them.”
