It would not be an exaggeration to say that some households have a cooking roster in place. On certain days, one member takes charge of the kitchen. Interestingly, celebrity households are no exception to this routine. Actress Sameera Reddy recently shared a video in which she can be seen preparing, “Kerala Idiyappam Veg Stew”. The video features Sameera and her mother-in-law, Manjri Varde. The clip begins with Manjri looking elegant in a saree and smiling at the camera. Sameera enters the frame and jokingly asks, “Why are you so dressed up?” To this, Manjri responds, “Today is the once-in-a-year bahu cooks day,” and reminds Sameera that she had promised to make Idiyappams with stew.

Following that, Sameera dives into the preparation of the South Indian dish. She begins by pointing the camera towards chopped French beans, carrots, and cauliflower, with Manjri pointing out that they were “not cut by Sameera.” Next, Sameera places a pot on the flame and adds coconut oil, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon stick, chopped ginger, garlic, and onions. The chopped vegetables, along with fresh peas, are then added to the pot. After a quick stir, Sameera adds water and coconut milk to the mixture.

For the Idiyappams, she heats up water with some oil, roasts rice flour, and adds the heated water to the rice flour to knead the dough. Following that, she shapes the dough into small pieces and places them inside the Idiyappam maker. The Idli maker is oiled, and the Idiyappams are carefully prepared and steamed. Finally, she serves the delightful dish to her mother-in-law.

In the caption of the video, the star mentioned the quantities of ingredients by writing: “2 tbsp coconut oil 2 cloves / lavang 1-inch cinnamon, 2 pods cardamom, ½ onion, sliced few beans, chopped, ½ carrot, chopped, ½ potato, cubed, peas / matar, cauliflower florets, 2 green chilli, slit ( optional), ginger, & garlic, 1 cup water, salt, 2 cup thick coconut milk.”
