Tilak Varma was impressive in the T20I series against the West Indies with the bat. But on Sunday, August 13, the left-handed batter showed his usefulness with the ball in hand in the fifth and final T20I at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida.

In the 14th over, Varma troubled an in-form Nicholas Pooran. In fact, it took him only two balls to dismiss the former Caribbean T20I skipper. On the first ball, Varma beat Pooran with an absolute beauty. India appealed for a stumping, but Pooran survived.

On the very next ball, Pooran went for a reverse hack, but ended up hitting the ball straight into the hands of Hardik Pandya. Varma finished with figures of 2-0-17-1.

TALENT TO WATCH OUT FOR

Varma has been a significant contributor to the ongoing T20I series. His promising performance, aggressive batting approach and the ability to adapt to varying situations have been instrumental in the team’s performance.

Varma, the Hyderabad-based player, has been given an opportunity in the top order, which he embraced with all seriousness and grace. Where some might falter in the light of such an opportunity, Varma thrives. His approach to being promoted to the high-pressure top order was both sanguine and gritty.

Throughout the series, Varma has demonstrated a laissez-faire approach to his batting, hitting the ball freely without inhibitions. His impeccable timing, combined with effective shot selection, has perplexed the West Indies bowlers. His unfettered commitment to each match is reflected clearly through his batting strategy and style.
