WPL 2027 auction complete guide: Where to watch, FAQs and top players on list
The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 auction is set to take place in Kochi, Kerala, on Wednesday, October 28, with 146 players competing for 27 available slots across five franchises. The auction will begin at 5:30 PM IST at the Grand Hyatt Kochi, marking the first time the city will host the WPL auction.
The auction pool comprises 119 Indian players, including 22 capped and 97 uncapped cricketers, alongside 27 overseas players. Of the 27 available slots, 20 are reserved for Indian players and seven for overseas recruits. England’s Sophia Dunkley and Australia’s Sophie Molineux have registered at the highest base price of Rs 50 lakh each.
Mumbai Indians have already traded in USA left-arm pacer Tara Norris from UP Warriorz ahead of the auction. The move leaves UP Warriorz with the biggest remaining purse of Rs 3.75 crore, giving them considerable financial flexibility to strengthen their squad. Gujarat Giants have Rs 1.25 crore remaining, followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru with Rs 1.15 crore, Delhi Capitals with Rs 1.10 crore and Mumbai Indians with Rs 90 lakh.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will look to build on their title-winning campaign in the 2026 season. With established international players and emerging Indian talent available, the Kochi auction will give franchises an opportunity to address gaps in their squads before the fifth edition of the tournament, scheduled to run from January 14 to February 7, 2027.
