Yashasvi Jaiswal only Indian in this top-five list headed by Don Bradman | Cricket News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Another monumental knock from the emerging Indian superstar Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his record-breaking spree, further establishing his reputation as one of the most promising talents in world cricket.
After falling for a duck in the first innings, Jaiswal bounced back with remarkable determination, dismantling the Australian bowling attack in the second innings of the Perth Test. His outstanding 161 off 297 balls not only anchored India’s innings but also put them in a commanding position.

With 1,568 runs, Jaiswal now stands fourth on the all-time list for most Test runs after 15 matches, putting him in the company of legends like Don Bradman and Everton Weekes.
The 22-year-old also shattered Vijay Hazare’s Indian record of 1,420 runs in the first 15 Tests.
MOST RUNS AFTER FIRST 15 TESTS:
2115 – Don Bradman
1618 – Mark Taylor
1576 – Everton Weekes
1568 – Yashasvi Jaiswal
1560 – Michael Hussey
This is Jaiswal’s third century of 2024, following his 209 in Visakhapatnam and an unbeaten 214 in Rajkot against England. He joins the elite list of Indians with three Test hundreds in a calendar year before turning 23, a feat achieved by icons like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Vinod Kambli and Ravi Shastri.

Jaiswal also became the third Indian batter to score a century on maiden Test appearance in Australia, joining ML Jaisimha (101, Brisbane, 1967-68) and Sunil Gavaskar (113, Brisbane, 1977-78). Additionally, he is the first Indian opener since KL Rahul in 2014-15 to score a Test century in Australia.
Jaiswal’s meteoric rise began with his stunning debut century (171) against the West Indies in Roseau, Dominica, in 2023, marking him as a player destined for greatness.
