Three persons including two of a family are still missing after a car fell into a river in Assam’s Dhemaji district on Thursday.

Three persons including two of a family are still missing after a car fell into a river in Assam’s Dhemaji district on Thursday.

The incident took place at Sissiborgaon Gelua area in the northern Assam district.

According to the reports, four persons of a family went to Silapathar area in a private car to attend a marriage function and the incident happened while they were returning home.

The car fell into the river after it hit a bridge railing.

Following the incident, locals rushed to the spot and some youths rescued two ladies alive from the river.

Locals said that one Tankeswar Kalita, his wife and their two daughters and the driver were inside the car when the incident occurred.

Locals rescued Tankeswar Kalita’s wife and a daughter alive. However, Tankeswar Kalita and his another daughter and the driver are still missing.

The SDRF team and local administration are engaged in the rescue operations to trace the missing persons.
