Legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar has congratulated the Indian team for clinching the Test series against England. India beat England by five wickets at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match Test series.

India chased down 192 runs on Day 4 with five wickets in hand to hand Ben Stokes his first Test series defeat as England captain. Dhruv Jurel was adjudged the Player of the Match for his gritty batting performance across the two innings, in what was just his second Test match.

Following India’s win in Ranchi, Tendulkar took to social media platform ‘X’, to say that the score is now ‘3-won’ while congratulating the team for an all-round performance.

“The score is 3-won! India once again came back from a pressure situation and fought back to win the match. It shows the character and the mental strength of our players. A great first spell in Test cricket for Akashdeep @dhruvjurel21 was terrific at reading the length in both innings and his footwork was precise. His partnership with @imkuldeep18 kept us in the game in the 1st innings, and his knock in the 2nd innings helped us sail home,” posted Tendulkar.

“Kuldeep’s spell in the 2nd innings was vital. Seniors like @ashwinravi99, @imjadeja and @ImRo45 did their jobs. @ShubmanGill showed great temperament in curbing his instinct in the chase and scored an important 50. So happy that the match as well as the series is ours,” his post added.

Starting Day 4 at 40 for no loss, Rohit Sharma scored his 17th Test half-century before England bounced back in the game with quick dismissals of Jadeja and Sarfaraz.

Jurel walked in to bat with England spinner Shoaib Bashir on a hattrick. Despite the mounting pressure, Gill and Jurel formed a hard-fought unbeaten partnership of 72 runs to finish the match. Gill smashed an unbeaten half-century while Jurel chipped in with 39 runs off 77 balls to steer India to a famous win in Ranchi.

The two sides will now clash in the fifth and final match of the series at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on March 7.
