While Juhu and Andheri East have become undeniable hotspots for foodies, Oshiwara is also quickly making its mark on the culinary landscape of this particular suburban region. Several quaint cafes and fine-dining restaurants are opening up to cater to the growing tastes of local patrons as well as those travelling to the area for work and study. We recently had the opportunity to taste some of the signature offerings of Cafe Corra in Oshiwara, which is celebrating its first anniversary this winter. Read our full review below.

Cafe Corra has been founded by Saif Saith and Alim Memdani. The kitchen is headed by Chef Radhe Mishra, who has worked in several fine-dining restaurants and hotels in the city over the years. He explained to us how he loves to experiment and offer patrons new twists along with classics. On perusing the menu, what struck us first was the variety. Selecting only a handful of appetisers and main course dishes was quite a task!

Teriyaki Cottage Cheese Skewers

Among the appetisers, we highly recommend the Teriyaki Cottage Cheese Skewers. The dish featured flavourful and succulent pieces of paneer to be relished with a creamy chilli garlic mayo. We devoured them in a few minutes and were pleased to note that the marinade’s spices permeated the cottage cheese cubes, thoroughly.

Truffle Arancini

If you’re craving fried food (what cafe binge would be complete without it?), choose the Truffle Arancini. Chef Radhe had told us he takes special pride in his Italian creations. We thus had high expectations. The fried rice balls had a deliciously cheesy centre that pairs fantastically with the marinara sauce base. They were satiating, but not too heavy.

Another aromatic delight was the Activated Charcoal Thai Basil Chicken Dimsums. These dramatically black treats enclose pockets of spicy minced chicken. If you want a hearty start to your meal, go for this appetiser.

Cafe Corra has an extensive drinks list including alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic options. The latter category has a good range of cold as well as hot beverages, which we appreciated. The heat of the day nudged us towards the mocktails. We savoured the chilled Litchi & Lemongrass, which fortunately didn’t have an overpowering fruity flavour. We also liked the Green Apple & Curry Leaves Cooler. However, note that the use of Sprite in this drink makes it markedly sweeter. From the bar menu, we tried the signature Black Bird: a sangria-like concoction with red wine, apple and mint, topped with a few chocolate shavings. As a refreshing daytime drink, this hit the spot just right.

Cafe Corra has many tempting options for the main course. You will find pasta, pizza, burgers, quesadillas, sandwiches and wraps. There are also Continental mains and seafood specials. So, whether you’re looking to grab a quick bite or sit in for a leisurely feast, the cafe has got your back. We decided to go with a classic choice – a pizza. We tasted Farm In Italy, which came with a topping of sundried tomatoes, peppers, olives and onions. Thyme, rosemary and basil worked their herbal magic to take this pizza to the next level.

To wrap up our meal, we took comfort in the Espresso Tiramisu. The delicate sweetness of mascarpone and the overall creaminess of the dessert marked this indulgent end of our feast.

Cafe Corra has a wonderful Bali-themed decor. The outdoor seating in the evening comes alive with beautiful lights that highlight the tropical accents (but note that indoor seating is available as well). The abundance of plants also adds a cheerful vibe to the ambience. Whether you’re looking for a quaint spot for a romantic date or a cosy space for a meet-up with friends, you should give Cafe Corra a try.
