RCB unlikely to hold victory parade in Bengaluru after IPL title win

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are unlikely to hold a victory parade in Bengaluru following their successful IPL 2026 title defence, according to PTI.

RCB defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the IPL final on Sunday to win their second consecutive title. However, the franchise has decided against organising public celebrations in the city, citing security concerns and existing police guidelines.

The decision comes nearly a year after a stampede near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium claimed 11 lives during celebrations following RCB’s maiden IPL title win. The incident had triggered widespread outrage and prompted intervention from the Karnataka government and the judiciary.

According to PTI, the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has also influenced the decision. The event, scheduled to be held at Lok Bhavan, is expected to draw a large crowd and require extensive deployment of police personnel.

With the Governor’s residence located close to the Chinnaswamy Stadium, authorities are expected to maintain heightened security arrangements in the area.

“It is highly unlikely that there will be any activities in Bengaluru. There are certain guidelines in place, and we need to stick to them,” an RCB source told PTI.

Bengaluru Police had earlier issued an advisory urging the public to avoid road celebrations, bursting crackers and any activity that could disturb public order in the event of an RCB victory.

“We have issued an advisory asking fans not to celebrate publicly on the streets and especially not to disturb peace and security. We will not allow any public celebrations. If anyone wants to celebrate, they can do it indoors,” Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh had said.

Apart from security considerations, several RCB players are also set to leave for international assignments. Devdutt Padikkal is expected to join the Indian Test squad ahead of the one-off Test against Afghanistan, while overseas players including Josh Hazlewood, Tim David, Jacob Duffy and Romario Shepherd have national team commitments.

As things stand, RCB’s title celebrations are expected to remain low-key despite the franchise becoming only the third team in IPL history to successfully defend the trophy.
