Vishwak Sen to play the lead in Telugu remake of Kappela?

According to reports, actor Vishwak Sen has been approached to play the lead in the Telugu remake of hit Malayalam film, Kappela, which featured Roshan Mathews and Anna Ben in the lead roles.

Last week, there were reports that popular production house Sithara Entertainments have acquired the remake rights of hit Malayalam film, Kappela, which featured Roshan Mathews, Anna Ben and Sreenath Bhasi.

According to latest reports, telugu actor Vishwak Sen has been approached to play the lead in Telugu remake of the film. Vishwak Sen loved the script and has expressed his interest to be a part of the project as well. However, he is yet to sign on the official agreement.

The makers are hunting for another lead artist for the role protrayed by Sreenath Bhasi in the original. The cast and crew of the film is likely be announced officially in August.

Vishwak Sen is currently working on two films – Hit 2 and Paagal.

Producer of Kappela, Vishnu Venu, was one of the first person to announce that the remake rights of the film has been bought by Sithara Entertainments. He wrote, “”Announcing a happy news! Kappela is to be remade in telugu by Sithara Entertainments (Producers of Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapuramulo, Jersey Movie, and many more). Kappela is the third movie from malayalam industry after Premam & Ayyappanum Koshiyum to be bought by them! Expressing our sincere thanks to all well wishers for making our small movie a grand success! (sic).”

Earlier, Sithara Entertainments had bagged the remake rights of two hit Malayalam films – Ayyappanum Koshiyum and Premam.

Kappela is an intense romantic thriller directed by debutant Muhammad Musthafa. The film released in theatres a few days before the lockdown was imposed. Though the film garnered great response from both audience as well as critics, it didn’t have a long theatrical run due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The streaming rights of the film was acquired by Netflix and has been made available on the popular OTT platform since May.
