NEW DELHI: In a tragedy that unfolded at the Namami Ganga project, 15 people died by electrocution in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand on Wednesday.
The tragedy happened when a transformer exploded on the banks of the Alaknanda river.
“Around 15 people including a police sub-inspector & five home guards have been killed in the incident. Investigation is under way. Prima facie reveals that there was current on the railing and the investigation will reveal the further details,” says additional director general of police, Uttarakhand, V Murugesan.
