Aamer Jamal was on Cloud 9 after he picked up a 6-wicket haul against Australia in the third and final Test against Pat Cummins’ Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Australia vs Pakistan, 3rd Test scorecard

Jamal made sure that Pakistan gained a lead of 14 runs at the end of the first innings after bowling the home team out for 299.

The 27-year-old speedster said that he never gives up on his attacking approach, even when he goes for runs.

“I’m over the moon, proud to be representing my country at this level. I think this a wonderful opportunity for me. It’s been so long, I still remember those days when I used to watch the Pakistan team,” Jamal was quoted as saying during the innings break.

“I just back myself every time, even if I am conceding runs, when you try to go for wickets, you leak boundaries as well, the coaching staff has given me a lot of confidence,” he stated.

Australia, at one point in time, were cruising when Jamal ran through their lower order. From 289 for five, the hosts lost their last five wickets for 10 runs. The pacer got the wickets of Usman Khawaja, Travis Head, Cummins, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood.

Earlier, Jamal also performed with the bat after he scored 82 runs, helping Pakistan post 313 on the board. He also put in 86 runs for the 10th wicket with Mir Hamza.

“We were seven down for 227; I think that partnership brought us back in the game. We are a couple of runs ahead of them and that matters,” Jamal added.

Jamal is also two wickets short of setting the record for most wickets by a Pakistani bowler in a single Test series on Australian soil. The seamer has 18 wickets to his name thus far from five innings.
