Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain has been banned from all forms of cricket after accepting charges of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. Hossain, who was charged by the ICC in September 2023, admitted to three charges, and has been handed a two-year ban, with six months suspended.

The charges against him stem from incidents during the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League, where he, along with seven other individuals including players, officials, and team owners, were implicated in corruption-related activities.

These charges included failing to disclose the receipt of a gift valued over $750, not reporting full details of approaches or invitations received to engage in corrupt conduct, and refusing to cooperate with the investigation carried out by the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO).

As a result of these admissions, Nasir Hossain accepted the charges brought against him by the ICC in September 2023 and was subsequently banned from all forms of cricket. His ban is set for two years, with six months suspended, marking a significant pause in his professional cricket journey.

The ICC’s anti-corruption unit, acting on behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), expressed confidence that they had successfully disrupted attempts to corrupt matches in the league, with no evidence suggesting that match-fixing occurred. Nonetheless, the charges laid out reflect a serious breach of trust and integrity within the sport.

Hossain played 115 matches for Bangladesh across formats between 2011 and 2018, scoring 2695 runs and taking 39 wickets. He has since featured largely in the domestic circuit, most recently turning out in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League for Prime Bank Cricket Club.

Hossain will be free to resume international cricket on 7 April, 2025, provided he satisfies the conditions in rest to the suspended part of the sanction.
