SURAT/BHARUCH: At least six workers were killed in a massive explosion at a chemical factory in Dahej GIDC in Bharuch district of Gujarat after Sunday midnight.
While the exact reason for the explosion is yet to be ascertained, official sources say that there was a fire during a chemical process in the company named ‘Om Organics‘.
Within few minutes of fire, a massive explosion took place and plumes of smoke were visible from a long distance.
A team of disaster management department, fire brigade and police rushed to the spot and found bodies of five workers who were processing chemicals when the incident took place. Following information that there were six people present, rescuers started a search operation and the missing person was also found dead.
Dahej police sent all six dead bodies to the civil hospital for the postmortem. Their identities are yet to be ascertained.
