In a last-minute move ahead of the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, the Indian team has decided to rest fast bowler Mohammed Siraj and flown him back home as part of workload management, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

Siraj, thus, accompanied the rest of the returning Test-squad members Ravichandran Ashwin, KS Bharat, Navdeep Saini, KS Bharat and Ajinkya Rahane.

India had won the two-match Test series 1-0.

It leaves the Indian pace attack a little thin on experience, with 50 matches between Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Umran Malik and Mukesh Kumar. Among the quartet, Thakur has played the most (35) number of ODIs, with Mukesh being uncapped in 50-over internationals.
It is unclear whether a replacement for Siraj would be named or not. Siraj is also not part of the T20I squad against the West Indies.

The ODI series will be followed by five T20 internationls.

India are due to play the Asia Cup in August-September, followed by the ODI World Cup at home in October-November.
