iphone: iOS 15 features that older iPhone users won’t be able to use
iOS 15 is finally here and iPhone users would be rushing to update their devices. However, not all features will not be available to all iPhones. Apple has clearly stated that there are some features that require an iPhone with an A12 Bionic chip or newer. What this means is that a lot of features will not be available on iPhone X or older models.
The A12 Bionic chip came with iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. So if you have any iPhone older than this generation then you will not be able to use the following iOS 15 features.
Portrait mode in FaceTime
iOS 15 brings Portrait mode to FaceTime calls. It blurs the background and puts focus on the user but it won’t be available on older iPhones.
Spatial audio, voice isolation in FaceTime
Features like spatial audio, voice isolation, wide spectrum mode will not work on FaceTime on older iPhones.
Live text feature will not be available
One of the coolest features of iOS 15 is the ability to copy, paste, look up and translate text within photos. The feature will not be available for older models of iPhones.
New animated backgrounds in Weather app
The Weather app gets new animated backgrounds that show the sun position, clouds and more but older iPhone users will not be able to see it.
Some Siri-related features
Siri can make requests offline for timers, phone calls, messaging, controlling audio playback and more with iOS 15. These features will not be available for older iPhones. accurately represent the sun position, clouds, and precipitation.
Apple hasn’t clarified why all these features require an A12 Bionic chip or a newer one.
