World No. 3 Jessica Pegula secured her third career victory by winning the Canadian Open, her second WTA 1000 title. She defeated Liudmila Samsonova 6-1, 6-0 in the final. Pegula became the first American in a decade to win the Canadian Open, previously achieved by Serena Williams in 2013. She is also the first American to win in Montreal since Monica Seles in 1998. Pegula’s triumph, coupled with previous wins, places her alongside Serena and Venus Williams with multiple WTA 1000 titles.
