India A managed to secure a remarkable draw against England Lions in the first unofficial Test match, thanks to some resilient batting performances at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. KS Bharat was the standout player for India A, scoring an unbeaten 116 runs off 165 balls, which played a crucial role in steering his team towards safety.

Bharat’s innings was a masterclass in grit and determination, as he anchored the Indian innings amidst the pressure of a formidable target set by the England Lions. Sai Sudharsan also made a significant contribution with a well-fought 97 runs from 208 deliveries, falling just short of what would have been a well-deserved century.

His efforts, alongside Bharat’s, were instrumental in India A’s fightback. Manav Suthar added to the resistance with an unbeaten 89 from 254 balls, showcasing patience and skill that further frustrated the England Lions’ bowlers.

Earlier, England set a massive target of 489 runs by declaring at 553/8 in the first innings and 163/6d in the second. On the other hand, India was bundled out for 227 in the first innings. The match, which seemed to be tilting in favor of the England Lions, saw a shift in momentum as India A displayed a commendable spirit in the last session, scoring 103 runs without losing any wickets over 25 overs. The collective efforts of these batsmen ensured that India A finished the day at 398/5, effectively denying the England Lions a victory that had appeared to be within their grasp.
