Now, it seems that our cuisine has found a new fan… in Japanese Ambassador to India, Hiroshi Suzuki. Expressing his delight on X, formerly Twitter, Mr Suzuki said, “Lucknowi biryani for two days in a row! Simply the best biryani I’ve ever had!” He shared a video of the restaurant staff serving the dish and a picture of himself savouring it. We don’t blame Mr Suzuki. After all, biryani is more than just food.

Mr Suzuki’s social media got flooded with suggestions. Foodies were super excited to see his love for Indian cuisine.

A user wrote, “Do try both Hyderabadi and Bengal Biriyani as well. Then say which is the best.”

A few wanted him to  “visit Bangalore Donne Biryani.”

“Great sir. Try once Hyderabad Biryani also sir if time permits,” read a comment.

A person added, “That’s sweet biryani. Sir, please come sometime to Bangalore and we will serve you Nati biryani, spicy flavour & definitely you will love it.”

The Lucknow Biryani is all about layering long-grain rice with marinated meat. What makes it unique is the slow ‘dum’ cooking method that locks in the flavours and makes it incredibly tender. When served, it is garnished with fresh mint leaves, fried onions, and saffron-infused milk, making it not only delicious but also a feast for the eyes.
