Indian cuisine is renowned worldwide for its extraordinary blend of flavours, fragrances and culinary diversity. It’s not just the taste but also the incredible variety that leaves an indelible mark on those who savour it. From the fiery curries of the South to the delectable biryanis of the North, Indian food caters to every palate. Now, it seems that our cuisine has found a new fan… in Japanese Ambassador to India, Hiroshi Suzuki. On his work trip to Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Mr Suzuki scooped some time out and relished a wholesome meal. Of course, he had biryani. Mr Suzuki has declared that Lucknow’s biryani is the best.

The Lucknow Biryani is all about layering long-grain rice with marinated meat. What makes it unique is the slow ‘dum’ cooking method that locks in the flavours and makes it incredibly tender. When served, it is garnished with fresh mint leaves, fried onions, and saffron-infused milk, making it not only delicious but also a feast for the eyes.
