Even meats like chicken and ham can be procured in advance and stored in the freezer till they are required to be used. While the convenience of frozen chicken cannot be stated enough, a common problem that cooks face is the time taken in defrosting it. It is commonly thought that any meat needs to be defrosted before being cooked. But now, a simple hack shows how it is possible to cook chicken without defrosting it!

Yes, you heard that right. Defrosting chicken is a thing of the past, as you can now cook it with a quick and easy trick. Popular German blogger Essen Rezepte took to YouTube to share a recipe for an easy dinner dish that could be made with chicken. The best part of the video was that chicken could be simply taken out of the freezer and put straight into the pan – with a small additional step in between.

The video shared by Essen was titled, “Don’t defrost chicken breast.” It has received 2.6 million views and 41k likes since the time it was shared, going viral on YouTube.

In the clip, the blogger explained how it was not necessary to defrost the chicken breast before cooking. You could simply use a grater and grate the chicken into small pieces to add it to your dish. “I think it’s a great idea for busy nights when you are short on time,” she said in the video. It could also come in handy when you are about to prepare dinner but have forgotten to take the chicken out of the freezer to defrost it.
