PAK vs ENG: Sajid Khan reveals how he plotted Harry Brook’s dismissal in Multan
Sajid Khan revealed how he and Mohammad Rizwan plotted Harry Brook’s dismissal in the second Test between Pakistan and England at the Multan Cricket Stadium. In the first Test at the same venue, Brook tormented the Pakistani bowling attack, becoming the sixth Englishman to rack up a double century in Test cricket.
Brook had won the Player of the Match award after England won the Test by an innings and 47 runs. But in the first innings of the second Test, Brook could only score nine runs before Sajid dismissed him bowled. Brook tried to play a cut shot, but was cleaned up as Sajid erupted in joy.
The 31-year-old Sajid said that Rizwan told him to bowl an attacking length to Brook without the fear of conceding a boundary.
‘Stuck to our plan’
“I watched the previous match while in Peshawar. Harry Brook plays spin off the back foot because he has lots of time. But there was a small patch (on this pitch) outside off stump. When he faced his first ball, I told Rizi bhai that if he plays like this again, I will get him out,” Sajid said in the press conference after the second day’s play.
“Rizi bhai said don’t worry about getting hit for a boundary, but we have to get him out today. So we stuck to our plan and succeeded (as I got him out),” Sajid added.
Sajid finished with figures of 19-1-86-4 at Stumps on Day 2 after he got the wickets of Brook, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope and Joe Root.
On the back of his spell, Pakistan have got England on the mat with the visitors at 239 for the loss of six wickets. The Three Lions trailed by 127 runs in their first innings with Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse as their overseas batters.
