India’s Shreyanka Patil and Pakistan’s Fatima Sana shared heartfelt messages for each other, showing the camaraderie between the two cricketers. The 22-year-old Fatima recently underwent personal tragedy after her father passed away. She missed the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 match against Australia as she went back to her home in Karachi to attend her loved one’s funeral.

Shreyanka, who made her World Cup debut in the UAE, gifted the Pakistan captain a painting with “Do what you love – Shrey 31” written on it. Fatima acknowledged the heartfelt gesture, writing, “Thank you, Shreyanka, for this beautiful gift and the message.”

In reply, Shreyanka also dropped in an adorable message for her friend across the border. “You are lovely Fatima. Can’t wait to catch up again,” Shreyanka wrote.

Fatima played a crucial role for Pakistan although her team failed to make their way through to the semi-finals of the mega event. In three games, Fatima scored 64 runs at an average of 21.33 and a strike-rate of 125.49 with a top score of 30 against Chamari Athapaththu’s Sri Lanka in Sharjah.

Fatima garnered praise from the cricket fraternity for showing strength and returning to play in the must-win match against Sophie Devine’s New Zealand on Monday. Fatima was also seen in tears before the match against the White Ferns started.

As far as Shreyanka is concerned, she also faced heartbreak after Harmanpreet Kaur’s India could not make their way through to the semis. They had to beat Australia to stay in hunt for a place in the top four, but a defeat meant that the Women in Blue crashed out in the group stage itself.

Shreyanka picked up four wickets from as many games with her best figures coming against Fatima’s Pakistan last Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium.
