Price-Fixing Case Against Chicken Company Officials Ends in Mistrial, Again
The U.S. Department of Justice’s effort to prosecute alleged price fixing in the poultry industry suffered a major setback after a second mistrial in the government’s high-profile case against senior chicken company officials.
Jurors in a Denver federal court were unable to reach a verdict on Tuesday after several days of deliberations in a month-long trial. Prosecutors failed to convince the entire jury that any of the 10 defendants were illicitly coordinating among themselves what their companies would charge major restaurant buyers of chicken products.
