Northamptonshire coach John Sadler called Prithvi Shaw a “superstar” while adding that the youngster is one of the best batters in the world. Shaw followed up his magnificent 244 against Somerset in the One-Day Cup on Wednesday with a blistering unbeaten century against Durham on Sunday. Shaw is the competition’s top run scorer, having scored 429 runs at an average of 143.

“Humble is the perfect word to describe Prithvi Shaw. He’s gracious and respectful, he’s loved being a part of the team. We’re loving having him here as well,” Sadler said after Northamptonshire defeated Glamorgan by 6 wickets.

According to his confession a month ago, Shaw had very few friends, but the Indian youngster had found an admirer in John Sadler, his coach at Northamptonshire. Sadler, who has been involved with cricket for more than a quarter-century, first as a player and then as a coach, couldn’t keep his cool as Shaw began his tenure at his club on a high note, smashing back-to-back centuries in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Sadler further added that Shaw’s ball-striking ability is one of the best he has seen in his 25 years of playing the game. After smashing a double century and a ton, Shaw has proven his winning mentality and established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the cricketing world.

“His skill speaks for itself, he’s a superstar. He’s as good as I’ve seen in 25 years of playing this game. He’s up there with the best in terms of ball striking. He genuinely wants to win games of cricket and has been a star in the dressing room,” Sadler added.
