Prithvi Shaw slams record-breaking double hundred in 129 balls for Northamptonshire in England’s One-Day Cup | Cricket News – Times of India
In this endeavor, Shaw accomplished a remarkable feat, becoming just the third cricketer globally to hit a double century in the tournament’s history. Notably, he broke the previous record of the highest individual score set by Ollie Robinson, who had scored 206 runs in 2022.
In the last edition, both Robinson from Kent and Ali Orr from Sussex had registered scores of 206 runs each, marking the inception of double centuries in the tournament.
Shaw, who hit 25 boundaries and 8 sixes in his double ton knock, took only 22 balls to go from 100 to 150. His 9th List A hundred came up in 81 balls with the help of 14 fours and 2 sixes.
Shaw finally departed at the score of 244 which came in 153 balls and was studded with 28 boundaries and 11 sixes. It was also the sixth highest individual score in the history of List A.
In the opening match against Gloucestershire, Shaw faced a distinctive dismissal as he was declared out on a hit wicket while at 34 runs and then scored 26 runs against Sussex in the second game.
The dynamic cricketer from Mumbai, who was last picked for India for a T20I series in January 2023, last played for India in July 2021. However, his ability to maintain a consistent performance has been challenged in the recent domestic season and the Indian Premier League 2023.
