In his first tweet in 18 days, Rahul Gandhi attacked the Modi government over the announcement of National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday.
Rahul Gandhi, in his tweet in Hindi, said: “Rashtriya ‘Mitri’karan Yojana – roads, railways, airports, electricity, gas, petrol, mines, stadiums and warehouses.”
राष्ट्रीय ‘मित्रि’करण योजनारोड, रेल, एयरपोर्टबिजली, गैस, पेट्रोलमाइन, स्टेडियम, गोदाम।

Earlier in the day, in his press conference on the same issue, Rahul indicated that the Modi government was benefitting the ruling party’s friends through NMP.
Ever since Twitter had blocked his handle on August 7, Rahul Gandhi had switched over to other social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and YouTube to put across his views.
The controversy started after he visited the victim’s family on August 4 to console her family. He assured help to them and raised the matter during the Monsoon Session of Parliament which concluded on August 11.
However, he also posted video clips and photographs of the victim’s parents on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
After National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson Priyank Kanoongo received complaints regarding the alleged violation of laws, the statutory body issued notice to Twitter following which Rahul Gandhi’s handle was locked on August 7.
The Congress party and several of its leaders came out in support of Rahul Gandhi and tweeted the photographs of the victim’s family. Twitter subsequently locked their handles and accounts too.
Twitter unlocked their handle on August 14 after reports appeared in a section of the media suggesting that the victim’s mother had given her consent to Rahul Gandhi for the publication of their photograph.
However, on August 17, the victim’s mother was seen telling another section of the media that she had not given consent to the family’s photographs getting published on Twitter. The issue took a new turn with the BJP demanding that Twitter should lock Rahul Gandhi’s profile again.
Meanwhile, NCPCR also complained to Facebook and Instagram to have the same posts of Rahul Gandhi removed. The two social media platforms requested the Congress to delete the posts. However, when they were not removed, Facebook and Instagram took action and deleted the controversial posts.
Though Twitter unlocked Rahul Gandhi’s handle on August 14, he did not tweet since August 6. He resumed tweeting on Tuesday.
