Snowfall blocks 121 roads in Himachal Pradesh | Shimla News – Times of India

SHIMLA: Due to snowfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, 121 roads including 4 national highways are still closed across the state.
Maximum 110 roads are closed in Lahaul-Spiti district, 6 roads are closed in Chamba, 2 roads each are closed in Kangra and Kullu districts. Apart from roads, 116 distribution transformers are also disrupted across the state while 113 water supply schemes are affected.
The weather suddenly changed in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. In the afternoon, where the snow cover was spread on the high peaks of the state, heavy hailstorm was witnessed in the capital Shimla. In a few minutes, Shimla was covered with a white sheet due to the hailstorm.
In Lahaul-Spiti district total 110 roads are closed including 63 in Lahaul sub-division, 45 in Udaipur sub-division and 2 in Spiti sub-division. In the district national highway 505, Gramphu to Lossar, and national highway 3, Darcha to Sarchu, are officially closed till summer.
Manali-Leh national highway (NH-3) is open for local 4*4 vehicles and Tata Sumo with chains up to Darcha. Darcha- Shinkula road is closed for all types of vehicles. Pangi Killar Highway (state highway-26) is open for local 4*4 vehicles up to Kadhu Nala. Kaza road (NH-505) from Sumdo to Losar is open for 4×4 vehicles. Local people and tourists have been advised by police to avoid unnecessary travel in case of snowfall.
In Chamba district, the national highway 154A, Bharmaur to Katori Bangla is closed after the bridge collapse due to landslide while 4 roads are closed due to snowfall in Pangi sub-division and one each in Salooni and Bharmaur sub-divisions. In the district 2 distribution transformers are disrupted in Pangi sub-division while 3 water supply schemes are affected in Pangi sub-division. In Kangra district 2 roads are closed in Dharamshala and Kangra sub-divisions.
In Kinnaur district, 3 roads are closed in Kalpa sub-division beside 111 distribution transformers are also disrupted including 29 in Kalpa sub-division, 14 in Nichar sub-division and 68 in Pooh sub-division.
In Kullu district, the national highway is closed due to snowfall in Rohtang pass while national highway 305 through Jalroi pass is open only for light vehicles. In the Kullu sub-division, 2 roads are closed while 53 distribution transformers are disrupted in the Thalout sub-division.
