UK Deputy High Commissioner hails measures by Andhra Pradesh govt to tackle coronavirus


UK’s Deputy High Commissioner in Hyderabad to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Andrew Fleming hailed the trategy, approach and outlook of the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government in Andhra Pradesh to fight Covid-19 crisis in the state.

Andrew Fleming, in a tweet, referred to a news article and pointed out that the world should learn from Andhra Pradesh in tackling the coronavirus pandemic.

Andhra Pradesh has adopted various innovative strategies such as screening every household, conducting a door-to-door survey through volunteers and other to contain the spread of the deadly new coronavirus in the state.

Some of extensive measures used by Andhra Pradesh, which is now getting attention from other states of country, are:

Screening of every household: CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy ordered the officials to screen every single household in the state within 90 days.

Technological tools used against Covid-19: Andhra Pradesh is the first state to use mobile tower signals to trace contacts of Covid-19 positive patients and also ensure that those are in-home quarantine must follow the mandatory norms.

Volunteer system: The volunteer system has proven to be the backbone of the Andhra government in its fight against the coronavirus as 2.5 lakh volunteers not only carried out multiple door-to-door surveys but also home-delivered essentials during the lockdown.

Door-to-door surveys: Andhra Pradesh has so far carried out door-to-door surveys that were focused on various aspects of public health. From tracing out foreign returnees, identifying symptomatic patients, and tracking the vulnerable people, the surveys provided all the vital information for the administration to design better strategies.

Andhra Pradesh on Thursday tested 19,085 samples where 553 people tested for novel coronavirus cases.

With new 553 cases, the total number of coronavirus cases on Tamil Nadu stood at 10,884.

Till now, 4,988 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from hospital after cure.

There are 5,760 active coronavirus cases in the state till date.

Tamil Nadu recorded 135 coronavirus-related deaths in the state so far.

Around 136 people have died due to the Covid unfortunately 136 have lost their life. Currently state has 5760 Active case.
