India middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan scored a stunning century on Day 4 of the Bengaluru Test match against New Zealand. The batter scored 150 runs and combined with Rishabh Pant to dig India out of trouble on Saturday, October 19.
In a short video uploaded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Sarfaraz said that Saturday was like a dream to him. The batter spoke about getting advice from Virat Kohli during his innings, and how him and Rishabh Pant wanted to play their natural attacking game when India were put under pressure.
“It felt very good. When I was celebrating my century it felt like the grass was blue, not green. It felt like I was in the sky. I was so happy. My dream was to score a hundred for India and it came true,” Sarfaraz Khan said about his century in the Bengaluru Test match.

The batter added 177 runs with Rishabh Pant in just 211 balls. While Sarfaraz got out at 150, Rishabh Pant painfully played the ball into his own stumps at 99. Sarfaraz said that both of them helped each other throughout the innings.
“Me and Rishabh play aggressive cricket. Both play attacking cricket and we were talking in the middle that we would help each other,” Sarfaraz said.
The batter concluded by talking about the seniors of the Indian team. Sarfaraz said that Virat told him to back his shots and play without any stress.
“I have watched Virat Kohli since childhood and I always wanted to play with him. That dream came true in RCB, but to play with him in the Indian team, that was special. He kept saying that ‘back your shots, play freely’ and he gave me a lot of confidence. When someone like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma pat your back and say that you have done well, it is obviously a proud moment,” Sarfaraz concluded in the BCCI video.
Sarfaraz’s innings helped India set a target of 107 runs against New Zealand. They play was stopped on Day 4 evening due to bad light when New Zealand had just come out to bat.
