Speaking after the match, Powell said the surface was good for batting but insisted that they fell 10 to 15 runs short in the first innings. West Indies posted a target of 179 runs for India to chase in the fourth T20I of the series.

“I think this is a pretty good batting surface. We were around 10-15 runs short. Given that, Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope batted well. You know, we do have a quality bowlers on our side but it was high-quality batters whom we were up against. We didn’t stick to our plans and felt the pressure of bowling to quality batters,” said Powell.

He went on to say that West Indies did not bat well in the middle overs, adding that they will do well if they can improve their batting against India’s spinners. Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets while Arshdeep Singh claimed three wickets against the West Indies in Florida.

“Always it comes down to spin, how we bat against their spinners. We didn’t bat well in the middle overs. If we can improve against spin, then we’ll do well. Yeah, it’s 2-2 as of now and tomorrow it’s a final and I will back West Indies in the final,” Powell added.

In the first innings, Shimron Hetmyer hit 61 runs off 39 balls and Shai Hope scored a 29-ball 45 to propel the hosts to a total of 178 for 8 in 20 overs. India openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill formed a 165-run stand for the opening wicket to take the game away from the hosts, guiding India to a comfortable nine-wicket win.
