VIJAYAWADA/VARANASI: Six people were charred to death and 12 others injured critically after a fire broke out in a reactor of a chemical factory at Akkireddygudem village in Andhra Pradesh‘s Eluru district of Thursday. Four people were also killed in a fire incident at at a sari finishing and packaging unit in Varanasi.
A father-son duo were among those killed in the Varanasi fire, which is blamed on a short circuit.
About three dozen workers were in the chemical plant unit when the blast occurred. Fire officials are probing whether a short circuit or overheating of the reactor led to the explosion.
