Talk about C.I.D. actor Dayanand Shetty and the one thought that immediately comes to mind is ACP Pradyuman‘s dialogue ‘darwaja tod do Daya’. This reference is always made whether Daya is at a film event, awards ceremony or a TV party and he has got used to it now.

The show C.I.D. may have gone off air but this tagline will always remain with him. And actually he is quite happy to have it too. In a chat with us, Daya says, “At that time, I actually used to break doors on the show. This was many years ago. It used to take a lot of strength, but it has happened in reality. As the years went by, it reduced because sometimes the producers had to spend quite a bit to get the doors fixed! Even if there was one crack on the frame, we had to get it done, so it became a costly affair for the producers. So later, I used to only pretend to break the door.”

Recounting his C.I.D. days further, he adds, “I guess people loved the dialogue and that’s how it got attached to me. It became the talk of the town and everyone started using the line ‘darwaja tod do Daya’, I’m totally fine with it.
Maine jo bhi kiya, bahut shiddat se kiya. I have worked hard in C.I.D. and I am happy to see how people love us even now, much after the show has gone off air.”

On the work front Daya says that he is being selective about his projects. “During C.I.D., I had a very hectic schedule. I used to shoot for 20 days, but now I don’t want to go back to a schedule like that again. I want to work selectively and also look at the commercial aspect,” he says.

He also shares that earlier, he didn’t have the time to do anything but his TV show. “I got proper time to do other things only after C.I.D went off air,” he adds.

Meanwhile, the actor is all set to debut in a Marathi movie titled Garam Kitali.
