How to download e-Aadhaar without Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID

Aadhaar Card has become one of the most commonly used proof of identity in India. Aadhaar is also among the widely accepted identity proofs in the country. That being said, the ID card can be used to open a new bank account, buy a new SIM card or even to get Covid-19 vaccination and tests, citizens need to present their Aadhaar card.

Now, every Aadhaar Card contains a 12-digit unique number called Aadhaar Number or UID and this number is extremely important to remember in case you want to download the e-Aadhaar on your smartphone when required.

Another way to download the e-Aadhaar is using the Enrolment ID, which is a 28-digit code provided during the enrolment process.
But, what if you don’t remember either of them and still want to download the Aadhaar card.

Well, there’s a way to do that as well. However, let us make it clear that to download e-Aadhaar, you’ll need to have the UID or EID with you.

So, in this guide, we will tell you how to retrieve your lost or forgotten Enrolment ID or Aadhaar number and then use them to download e-Aadhaar. Read on:

Things to keep handy before proceeding with the steps:

  • Full name as per Aadhaar card
  • Register phone number to receive OTP and UID and EID

Steps to find Aadhaar number or Enrolment number

1.

Open ‘https://uidai.gov.in/’ on your smartphone or PC

2.

Scroll down and click on ‘Get Aadhaar’ option

3.

Now, click on Retrieve EID/UID link

4.

On next page, select Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID

5.

Enter full name as per Aadhaar card, mobile number linked to the Aadhaar and Captcha

After this, you’ll receive the Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID on the registered phone number. Now, you can use the Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID to download e-Aadhaar.

Steps to download e-Aadhaar

1.

Head back to the homepage of UIDAI website and click on Download Aadhaar link

2.

Click on Download Aadhaar option

3.

Select Aadhaar number option, if you have the retrieved Aadhaar number, else select Enrolment ID and enter it.

4.

Now, fill in the captcha and click Send OTP

5.

Enter the OTP received to download e-Aadhaar

It is also important to note that the downloaded e-Aadhaar will be password protected. The password is the combination of the first four letters of your name in capital letters and year of birth in YYYY format. For example, if your name is Akshay and you were born in 1981 then your password will be AKSH1981.
