BJP functionary ‘dies due to lathi-charge’ during party’s Vidhan Sabha march | Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: Jehanabad Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district general secretary Vijay Kumar Singh on Thursday succumbed after being admitted to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for treatment, following grievous injuries allegedly received in the heavy lathi-charge resorted to by Bihar police on the participants of the BJP’s Vidhan Sabha march on Thursday.
“BJP Jehanabad district general secretary Vijay Kumar Singh died while being taken to PMCH,” Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Modi said in his tweet.

However, Patna Police and district administration did not confirm the death due to lathi-charge.
“The reason for the death is not known yet,” a senior police official said.
Modi, like party chief Samrat Chaudhary and several other MPs, MLAs and MLCs, also participated in his party’s Vidhan Sanga march from Gandhi Maidan.

The lathi-charge occurred at the busy Dak Bungalow crossing, heart of Patna.
They were raising issues related to recruitment of teacher aspirants, besides resignation of deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, chargesheeted by the CBI in the job for land scam connected with the railways.
