Explosion near temple in Hyderabad injures 1; probe under way

NEW DELHI: A minor explosion occurred near a temple in Hyderabad’s Mailardevpally area on Monday, injuring a man nearby.
The incident occurred while the man was cleaning garbage on the road outside the temple premises.
He also performs rituals at the temple, they added.
Samples from the site were collected and sent to a laboratory for analysis.
After the blast, the man was rushed to a hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable, reported news agency PTI citing a senior police officer.
Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene along with a bomb disposal squad.
“An explosion took place near a temple on Laxmiguda Road under Mailardevpally police station limits. The incident occurred when the temple priest was cleaning the premises near the temple. The temple priest was seriously injured in the explosion and has been admitted to a hospital. More details will be revealed after investigation,” ACP Rajender Nagar told news agency ANI.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion, the police officer said.
