Mumbai airport handled over 2 lakh passengers since May 25

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has catered to more than 2 lakh passengers since the commencement of the domestic operations from May 25.

During this period, the airport handled a total of 1,744 domestic flights, which were operated by 10 airlines, catering to a total of 34 sectors.

“CSMIA catered to a total of 2,01,258 passengers which includes 1,40,878 at departures and 60,380 at arrivals. CSMIA has handled a total of 1,744 domestic flights for the period from May 25 to June 24, operated by 10 airlines and catering to a total of 34 sectors in the country,” Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) the operator for CSMIA said.

The MIAL said Mumbai-Delhi route saw the highest number of passengers with 41,206 air travellers. A total of 22,778 air passengers travelled in Mumbai-Kolkata route, 18,812 in Mumbai-Varanasi and 17,784 in Mumbai-Patna route.

“Upon the revival of commercial domestic flight operations on May 25, the airport was permitted to operate 25 departures and 25 arrivals per day. With the recent grant by the Government of Maharashtra to double the commercial passenger flight movements, the airport saw a total of 06 new sectors added to their existing schedule. The sectors include Trivandrum, Coimbatore, Raipur, Udaipur, Jabalpur, and Jalgaon,” MIAL said.

Meanwhile, MIAL said that things are “looking up post the revival of operations and they were fully committed for the safety and security of the various stakeholders”.
