NEW DELHI: Fresh after returning from a mini-break, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli made an instant impact on the field as he displayed some exquisite straight drives in his half-century knock during the first ODI of the three-match series against Sri Lanka in Guwahati on Tuesday.
Kohli, who has been rested for the T20I series against Sri Lanka, hit a fine century in the last ODI played against Bangladesh in December 2022.
Kohli brought up his 65th half-century in ODIs in style as he came down the pitch and whipped the ball with the help of his magical wrists over mid-wicket for a maximum.

Kohli showed his class early in his innings as he came up with two back-to-back straight drives off Dilshan Madushanka in the 24th over of the Indian innings. The first drive was so straight that it hit the runner’s end stumps while the second one was a notch better as it picked up a boundary.
