Women now account for nearly 48% of Ayushman hospitalisations | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Women account for nearly 48% of authorised hospitalisations under Ayushman Bharat-PM Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), data accessed by TOI show.
Top officials in National Health Authority (NHA), implementing agency of the scheme, told TOI that since its launch in 2018, 6.5 crore hospitalisations have been made under the scheme which involved treatment cost of Rs 81,979 crore.Of this, 3.2 crore hospitalisations for Rs 39,349 crore involved women.
Officials said scheme utilisation by women beneficiaries has been higher than that of men in 10 states/UTs – Meghalaya (68%), Arunachal Pradesh (57%), Chhattisgarh (56%), Mizoram (54%), Nagaland (53%), Jharkhand (51%), Tripura (51%) and J&K (50%).
According to NHA documents, top specialties under PMJAY which were utilised more by women than men are – cancer (56%), ophthalmology (54%), otorhinolaryngology or ENT-related (51%), and neonatal care packages (57%).

“Enrolment under AB-PMJAY scheme is steered by thousands of ASHA and aangaenwadi workers across states/UTs. Women also constitute a significant percentage of healthcare providers at local units (AB-Health Wellness Centres). This has helped increase utilisation of the scheme among women, who have traditionally lagged behind in health-seeking behaviour,” a senior health ministry official said.
He added that another key change brought in by the scheme which helped increase women’s involvement in healthcare scheme was individual enrollment.”Before AB-PMJAY, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana or RSBY was used to provide health insurance coverage to the unrecognised sector workers belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category and their family members. Only one card was issued to each family, mostly the men who were the breadwinners. We realised this made women in such households dependent on the men to take them to hospital for treatment. However, in case of AB-PMJAY, individual Ayushman cards are issued to each member of families covered under the scheme which means now the women do not have to depend on anyone to seek treatment,” the official, who did not want to be quoted, said.
Till date, NHA sources said, nearly 32 crore beneficiaries have been enrolled under the scheme and issued Ayushman cards. “Initially, in the first two years of the scheme’s launch, only about 10 crore intended beneficiaries were issued Ayushman cards. In the last two years, since the ASHAs were involved, we have issued 20 crore such cards,” said a source.

Taking to his X-handle, the user caught our attention regarding the situation when he wrote, “Rumali Roti vanishing from menus is a crisis that isn’t spoken about enough.” Perhaps, the concerning situation arose from its competitors, the Tandoori Roti and Naan. While the former has become popular due to its crisp edges and soft interiors, the latter has shown signs of dominance because of its fluffiness and melt-in-the-mouth chewy texture. 

But Roomali Roti lovers are not ready to give up the fight for their beloved flatbread. Taking to their social media handles, the internet joined hands with the user and aimed not to let Roomali Rotis plunge into oblivion. 

Sharing their ordeal and agreeing with him, one user wrote, “I specifically look for it when I want to eat Indian food outside and not many restaurants have it.”

Another annoyed individual commented, “Missing the Roomali Rotis from every menu nowadays and when I ask they reply “Sir yeh Kya hoti hai (Sir, what is that?).” Like seriously?”

One Chandigarh resident shared that when he asked for Roomali Roti and Malai Chaap at a cafe, they said, “We don’t have Roomali Roti. Instead, they suggested options in Naan.”

A citizen sarcastically termed the situation as “a national crisis”

Hashtags of “Save Roomali Roti” and “Justice for Roomali Roti” also started trending.

One foodie was ready to “cancel the butter Naan and bring back Roomali Roti.”

Taking an indirect dig at Gen-Z, a person opined that the present generation “simply do not possess the rizz needed to prepare the flying dough for Roomali Roti.”

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy expressed confidence ahead of the upcoming general elections and said that he will try his best to win for the fourth time after his candidature was announced from Dum Dum on Sunday.

TMC MP Saugata Roy said, “Every election is a challenge. We have to go to the people. I have won three times from here (Dum Dum) and will try my best to win for the fourth time.”

Abandoning the Mallikarjun Kharge-led INDIA bloc, Trinamool Congress on Sunday announced its candidates for all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal for the upcoming general elections.

Giving a message of TMC going solo in the Lok Sabha polls, party General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee announced the list that included certain surprises from former cricketers Yusuf Pathan from Berhampore and Kirti Azad from the Bardhaman Durgapur Lok Sabha seat.

Sukanta Majumdar, the President of the West Bengal BJP, raised questions about TMC’s decision to field Yusuf Pathan and Kirti Azad.

“Just half an hour before the TMC’s list was announced, Abhishek Banerjee was making statements like BJP is anti-Bengal. Now, when the candidates are announced, it’s clear that TMC is bringing people from outside. I don’t know if Kirti Azad and Yusuf Pathan are Bengali, Yusuf Pathan is from Gujarat, and so is PM Modi, but for them, PM Modi is an outsider,” he said.

The list was announced by Abhishek Banerjee at Brigade Parade ground on Sunday.

Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will contest from Diamond Harbour.

Mahua Moitra, who was expelled from Lok Sabha in the Winter session last year has been given a ticket from Krishnanagar constituency.

Meanwhile, Mukut Mani Adhikari who recently quit the Bharatiya Janata Party has also been given a ticket from Ranaghat Lok Sabha seat.

Shatrughan Sinha is set to again contest from Asansol, a seat he had won earlier in 2022 bypoll.

TMC has fielded Jagadish C Basuniya from Cooch Behar, Prakash Chik Baraik from Alipurduar, Nirmal Ch Roy from Jalpaiguri, Gopal Lama from Darjeeling.

Krishna Kalyani has been fielded from Raiganj whereas Biplab Mitra and Prasun Banerjee will contest from Balurghat and Malda Uttar respectively.

On the announcement of the candidates, Trinamool Congress said that the ruling party in Bengal will stand with the common people as part of its committment.

“Under the leadership of Chairperson @MamataOfficial, we’re pleased to announce the names of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. We are steadfast in our commitment to stand by the common people against the deprivation of the Central Govt. When it comes to confronting the @BJP4India jomidars head-on and responding in the language they understand best, the Twin Flower is people’s only choice!,” TMC posted on X.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was also sharing the stage when the list was released, asserted that her party will contest elections in multiple states in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

“TMC will contest the election against BJP, Congress, and CPM in West Bengal. TMC will fight alone here in Bengal. TMC will also fight in Assam, Uttar Pradesh. For one seat, there has been a discussion with Samajwadi leader Akhilesh Yadav. We will also fight in Meghalaya,” she said.

The Trinamool Congress kicked off the campaign for the upcoming elections through its show of strength.

In the previous Lok Sabha polls, the TMC won 22 seats while the BJP sprung a major surprise, winning 18 seats.

The Congress won the remaining two seats. In 2019, the BJP-led National Democratic (NDA) won a total of 303 seats, leaving the grand-old party behind at 52 seats.

The Lok Sabha polls are expected to be held in April-May this year.

Himachal Pradesh Rebel MLAs' Case In Supreme Court On Tuesday

The Supreme Court will hear a petition by six rebel Congress MLAs of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. The MLAs — who cross-voted in the recent Rajya Sabha polls in Himachal Pradesh — had challenged their disqualification by the Speaker. A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna, Dipankar Datta and Prashant Kumar Mishra will hear the plea.

On February 29, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania had disqualified them for “defying” the Congress whip that required them to be present in the House and vote for the budget.

The rebels had voted in favour of BJP nominee Harsh Mahajan in the Rajya Sabha election on February 27. Senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi had lost the Rajya Sabha election owing to the cross-voting.

The disqualified MLAs are Rajinder Rana, Sudhir Sharma, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Devinder Kumar Bhutoo, Ravi Thakur and Chetanya Sharma.

Following their disqualification, the effective strength of the Himachal Pradesh assembly has slid from 68 to 62, while the number of Congress MLAs has shrunk from 40 to 34.

In their petition, the rebel MLAs have alleged violation of the principle of natural justice, claiming they did not get adequate opportunity to respond to the disqualification petition.

This was the first time in Himachal Pradesh, an MLA was disqualified under the anti-defection law aimed at checking defections.

Announcing the disqualification of the six MLAs on February 29, the Speaker said they attracted disqualification under the anti-defection law as they defied the party whip. He ruled that they ceased to be members of the House with immediate effect.

The petition seeking their disqualification was filed by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister.
Senior advocate Satya Pal Jain, who appeared for the rebel Congress MLAs, had argued that they were only given the show-cause notice and not the copy of the petition or the annexure. He also pointed out that seven days were mandatorily allowed for replying to the notice but no time was given to them.

Under the anti-defection law, any elected member who gives up the membership of a political party voluntarily or votes or abstains from voting in the House, contrary to any direction issued by his political party, is liable for disqualification.

The rebel MLAs had signed the attendance register but abstained from voting on the Budget, the Speaker said. They were issued notices for defying the whip through WhatsApp and e-mail and were asked to appear for the hearing.

NEW DELHI: It was business as usual at Election Commission‘s Nirvachan Sadan office on March 7, a day before election commissioner Arun Goel submitted his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu.
That day, Goel had taken part in an off-camera interaction between EC, led by chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar, and members of the international media. The meeting was organised by the ministry of external affairs.
Earlier, on March 4 and 5, Kumar and Goel were in West Bengal as part of EC’s customary pre-poll visits to different states/Union Territories to assess election preparedness.
Sources indicated that Goel had, early into the visit, complained of uneasiness/discomfort.
However, he attended each of EC’s meetings with different stakeholders, which went on till almost 8pm on March 4.
On the morning of March 5, sources told TOI, a doctor’s visit was arranged for Goel at the Oberoi Grand hotel in Kolkata, where EC members were staying. The course of medicines started right away, but Goel, still in discomfort, excused himself from attending EC press conference in Kolkata at 12 noon on March 5.

After EC wound up its Bengal visit with the press conference, Goel travelled back to Delhi along with CEC and other EC officials on the same flight – Vistara flight No. UK-778, which departed Kolkata at 3.25pm on March 5.
On March 6, Goel attended office at Nirvachan Sadan, though there were no major meetings requiring the presence of the full commission.
On March 7, Goel, along with CEC Kumar, was part of EC’s interaction with the foreign media. As many as 27 journalists representing international media organisations like Reuters, The New York Times, Associated Press, Bloomberg News, BBC, Nikkei, Deutsch Welle, France 24 and Australian Broadcasting Corporation etc, were present as CEC fielded queries on matters relating to polls, EC and more.
On the morning of March 8 – the day he was to attend EC’s meeting with home secretary Ajay Bhalla to finalise force logistics, which is the most important input for deciding phasing of elections – Goel sent his resignation to the President.
A copy of the resignation letter was not shared with CEC, nor was the latter sounded out. Goel stayed away from office on March 8, leaving Kumar to finalise force logistics with the home secretary and the railway brass.
Goel’s resignation was accepted by the President on March 9. Goel could not be reached for his version despite several attempts.

An application from the State Bank of India, seeking more time to file information on electoral bonds, will be heard by the Supreme Court today. The court had given time till March 6 to file the details. The bank wants time till June 30.

Here are the Top 10 points in this big story:

  1. A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, will hear the matter at 10.30 am.

  2. The bench had asked the national bank to file details about each electoral bond encashed by political parties before the scheme was scrapped last month.

  3. The court will also hear a separate plea by non-profits Association for Democratic Reforms and Common Cause, which has sought contempt proceedings against the SBI. The petitioners alleged that the bank had deliberately disobeyed court order to file the details by March 6.

  4. On February 15, the bench had scrapped the Centre’s electoral bonds scheme that allowed anonymous political funding. The judges had called it “unconstitutional”.

  5. Electoral bonds violate people’s right to information and Article 14 of the Constitution guaranteeing equality. They also infringe on the principle of free and fair elections as stipulated in the constitution, the court had said.

  6. The court had asked the Election Commission to furnish details of donors, the amount they donated, and the recipients. The information, it said, should be published on the Commission’s website by March 13.

  7. The court had also asked the SBI to submit details of the bonds purchased since April 12, 2019 to the Commission by March 6.

  8. On March 4, the SBI asked the top court to extend the time till June 30. The bank said retrieving the information will be a time-consuming job. The need to maintain anonymity has made it complicated.

  9. The Congress has alleged that the BJP is using the bank as a shield. The party also alleged that the request for extension is a ruse to keep data under wraps till the Lok Sabha election.

  10. Pointing out that as a fully computerised bank, the SBI can have all the details with a few clicks, the Congress said, “SBI operates 48 crore bank accounts, 66,000 ATMs and has nearly 23,000 branches… and this SBI needs five months to give data on just 22,217 electoral bonds”.

A 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after his wife walked out of their home in Geeta Nagar in Nagpur following an argument, a police official said on Sunday.

The man hanged himself using a saree on Saturday, the Hudkeshwar police station official said.

“He had called his wife to return home. When she refused, he ended his life. An accidental death case has been registered,” the official added.

NEW DELHI: Uddhav Thackeray aide and Mumbai MLA Ravindra Waikar on Sunday jumped ship and joined Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
Waikar, who is an MLA from Mumbai’s Jogeshwari area, had been under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate for his alleged involvement in the misuse of a civic plot for the construction of a luxury hotel.
Speaking to reporters after joining, Waikar said he had worked in the Shiv Sena for 50 years and had switched sides for the development of his constituency.
“I’m here because I want to do work for my constituency & a lot of people’s demands are pending. All work will done only when you are in government and people elect you because you have to do work. The central government & state government are working very well,” Waikar said.
Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde welcomed Waikar to the Shiv Sena, highlighting the party’s adherence to the ideals of the late Bal Thackeray.
“Ravindra Waikar joined real Shiv Sena which was going on the ideology of Babasaheb Thackeray. He knows that this government is working for the people of Maharashtra. I welcome Waikar to Shiv Sena. We convert negative things into positive,” Shinde said.
Last month, MP Sanjay Raut had claimed that Waikar has been facing immense pressure in the last few days from Enforcement Directorate (ED) and other investigation agencies. He also said that the MLA is being threatened to quit Sena (UBT) and defect to Shinde Sena or go to jail.
Last September, Mumbai police filed an FIR against Waikar, his wife and four others for criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal conspiracy in connection with an under-construction luxury hotel in Jogeshwari following a complaint from a BMC sub-engineer. ED then registered a money-laundering case, and has recorded Waikar’s statement. Recently, it searched his home, along with the premises of six associates.

NEW DELHI: The United States has said that it found no evidence of UFOs or aliens and that most sitings were ‘ordinary objects’ that were the results of “misidentification“.
In the 63-page report titled “Historical Record of US Government Involvement with Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP),” the Pentagon said, “the Department of Defense’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) found no evidence of any US government investigation, research, or review panel verifying a “UAP represented extraterrestrial technology“.
The report is a part of the US government’s broad public examination of UFOs, or “unidentified anomalous phenomena.” Congress hearings and open discussions with US space agency Nasa officials have also been part of the study.
However, the US officials acknowledged that the public’s perception of alien visits will not be dispelled by their findings.
“The proliferation of television programmes, books, movies, and the vast amount of internet and social media content centred on UAP-related topics most likely has influenced the public conversation on this topic, and reinforced these beliefs within some sections of the population,” the report said.
According to researchers, there is a persistent belief that the government has conducted secret alien research and withheld information about reverse-engineering extraterrestrial technology. The source article identified a group of individuals who perpetuate this narrative without evidence. The researchers highlight the incorrect allegation of circular reporting and government concealment from Congress.
The report has also stated that mistaken identification of new space, rocket, and air systems, including stealth technologies and drones, has contributed to UFO sightings since the 1940s. The investigation by AARO included interviews with thirty people, an examination of both classified and unclassified records, and a review of all government UAP investigations dating back to 1945.
“AARO assesses that all of the named and described alleged hidden UAP reverse-engineering programs provided by interviewees either do not exist; are misidentified authentic national security programs that are not related to extraterrestrial technology exploitation; or resolve to a disestablished program,” said Major General Pat Ryder, Pentagon Press Secretary.

Former Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan on Sunday asserted that every party wants him to be on its side, indicating he could tilt towards the one that offered a better bargain.

Mr Paswan, an NDA ally, has been getting feelers from the ‘Mahagathbandhan’, the opposition coalition in Bihar.

Addressing a rally in the Sahebanj assembly segment, Chirag dropped ample hints that he was weighing his options and could tilt towards the side with a better bargain.

“I can see the posse of media persons here who are anxious to know whom Chirag Paswan is aligned with. I wish to tell them that Chirag Paswan is aligned only with the people of Bihar,” said the young leader, who has often sworn by his loyalty towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, likening him to Lord Ram and himself to Lord Hanuman.

“Every party, every coalition wants Chirag Paswan to be on its side,” he said, adding that this was because tpeople were enamored with his “Bihar first Bihari first” vision that seeks to pull the state out of chronic backwardness.

In his speech, he made yet another attempt to project himself as true heir to his late father Ram Vilas Paswan, calling himself “sher ka beta”.

He refrained from mentioning by name bete noires in the NDA, Nitish Kumar, the Bihar chief minister who heads the JD(U), and Union minister, uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras, who split the late leader’s party.

The young leader, however, spoke at length about the “conspiracies” he had to face, “aimed at breaking my home, my family and my party, though I have demonstrated that Chirag Paswan cannot be cowed down”.

The rally at Sahebanj under the Vaishali Lok Sabha seat, which the LJP won in the last two elections, is being seen as a fresh attempt by Paswan to claim his father’s legacy, after having earlier declared that the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), a splinter group that he now heads, will contest Hajipur, which the late leader had represented several times.

Predictably, the nephew’s offensive has not got down well with Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) headed by Paras, who is the sitting MP from Hajipur, and has made it clear that he will seek re-election from the seat.

RLJP spokesman Shravan Agrawal said, “There is no question of our giving up Hajipur or any of the other four seats our party holds. We are sure our claim will be honoured by the BJP as we are the NDA’s natural allies. Why else are they (Chirag’s party) getting an offer from the other side, but nobody dares to approach us with such enticements”.

While no ‘Mahagathbandhan’ leader has said on record what was the “offer” made to Mr Paswan, sources in the coalition, which includes the Congress, RJD and three Left parties, said he could be accommodated with “more than six seats”.

The LJP had, in 2019, fought six seats, winning all of those, though the two splinter groups may have to settle for a much smaller number this time, especially in view of the fact that the NDA has brought into its fold two smaller parties, the Rashtriya Lok Morcha of former Union minister Upendra Kushwaha and Hindustani Awam Morcha of ex-CM Jitan Ram Manjhi.

Moreover, Nitish Kumar, who had quit the NDA for a brief period, is also back in the coalition, and is understood to be adamant on his share of 17 seats, the number fought by the JD(U) five years ago when it won all but one.

BJP leaders said on the condition of anonymity that the feud between uncle and nephew is a thorn in the flesh, as the party cannot afford to lose Chirag, who enjoys mass appeal, but also does not wish to turn its back on Paras, whom it made a Union minister after Paswan senior’s death and behind whom all other LJP MPs had rallied when the party split up in 2021.

However, one of the MPs, Veena Devi, who represents Vaishali, recently announced that she was back in Chirag’s camp. She was also present at the Sahebanj rally.

The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is undeniable, but a new report by The New Yorker sheds light on a potential hidden cost: its immense appetite for electricity. According to a report in the New Yorker, the popular chatbot ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, uses a staggering half a million kilowatt-hours daily to handle its 200 million user requests.This translates to over 17,000 times more electricity than the average US household uses in a day.
The dangerous numbers
What makes these figures more alarming is that the wider adoption of AI technology could lead to an even bigger energy drain. A study by Alex de Vries, a data scientist for the Dutch National Bank, published in the journal Joule, suggests that if Google integrated generative AI into every search, it could consume a mind-boggling 29 billion kilowatt-hours annually. This surpasses the yearly energy consumption of entire countries like Kenya, Guatemala, and Croatia.
“AI is just very energy intensive,” de Vries told Business Insider. “Every single AI server can already consume as much power as more than a dozen UK households combined.”
Estimating the total energy consumption of the AI industry is challenging due to the varying operational needs of large models and the secrecy surrounding tech giants’ energy usage, according to a report in The Verge.
However, de Vries, using data from chipmaker Nvidia, a leader in the AI boom, has come up with a projection. By 2027, the entire AI sector could be using a staggering 85 to 134 terawatt-hours annually, potentially reaching half a percent of global electricity consumption. This is significant considering major companies like Samsung use a fraction of this for their entire operations.
OpenAI has not yet commented on these reports.
The environmental impact of AI’s energy needs is a growing concern. As AI development continues, addressing its energy consumption will be crucial to ensure a sustainable future.

The Trinamool launched a fresh “outsider” attack on the BJP in a new campaign ahead of the national elections and accused their leaders of resorting to “catcall” Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamool’s number 2, targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and dubbed the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as a ‘Bengalis vs outsiders’ contest.

“Earlier, thieves used to go to jail, now they go to BJP, this is Modi’s guarantee. On the other side is a woman, she still lives in a tin roof house and wears a hawai sandal. Who does Bengal want? Modi or Didi? Bengal’s son of the soil or outsiders?” he told a massive rally in Kolkata.

Ms Banerjee is fondly referred to as Didi by her supporters as well as in the political circles.

The Trinamool has often targeted the BJP as an “anti-Bengal” party, especially after it expanded its base in West Bengal after the 2019 elections.

The BJP had bagged 18 out of 42 seats in Bengal in the previous Lok Sabha polls, the highest it ever won in the eastern state. In the 2021 assembly elections, the BJP emerged as the main opposition party with 77 seats, sidelining the CPM and the Congress.

The Trinamool today launched the ‘Jonogoner Gorjon Bangla Birodhider Bisorjon‘ campaign, which translates to ‘people demand the ouster of anti-Bengal forces’ and highlights what the party believes are “anti-Bengal traits” of the BJP.

“They consistently demonstrated anti-Bengal attitude, deprived the people of Bengal of the basic necessities of roti, kapda, makaan, and misused power to suppress Bengal’s voice,” they said in an online post.

The party accused the BJP-led government at the centre of conspiring against Bengal and that “Bangla Birodhi (anti-Bengal) traits are exhibited in each and every action of BJP.”

“These past 10 years are witness to a consistent attempt by these overlords from outside Bengal, to malign the image of the state and its people through manufactured and often violent conspiracies,” said the Trinamool.

It said Ms Banerjee continues to fight unfazed despite “catcalls” by BJP leaders and the people are determined to defeat them. “BJP leaders incessantly mock, insult and catcall Mamata Banerjee, the only female Chief Minister of the country. She, however, continues to fight unfazed for the people,” the party said.

Thanks to the advent of technology, we have been witnessing things in real life that were once just a dream. Recently, a travel vlogger named Ken Abroad got the opportunity to witness a wonderful marriage of food and technology during his visit to Shanghai, China. And much like him, social media users were also impressed by this invention. During his stay at a hotel, Abroad dropped an interesting video on Instagram recording his reaction to his food being delivered by a robot.

The video opened with the vlogger saying, “I am getting food delivered by a robot in China.” Flipping the camera, he showed a telephone ringing in his room, indicating that his food had arrived at the doorstep. Once he opened the door of his hotel room, Ken Abroad was greeted by a mini white robot. Unable to decipher what the object was speaking in Chinese, he searched for any additional information to receive the meal. He soon found a digital screen displaying the word “Open” on the robot’s dome-shaped head. 

Once Ken Abroad gave a tap on the dome, a compartment slid open at the centre, revealing his well-packaged food. After taking out the food containers from the fridge-like opening, the vlogger once again pressed the button and the compartment closed automatically. A timer flashing on the screen displayed the time frame within which the food was to be collected. After completing its duty, the wheel-attached robot rolled away through the corridor. “This feels quite futuristic!” wrote Abroad in the caption. 

The internet community expressed their excitement at the robotic food delivery technique in China. One person wanted to know, “Would you say China or Japan is more futuristic?”

Another wondered whether the food was cooked by a robot too.

A third individual guessed that the robot was trying to say, “Please give me a good review.” 

A user found the service to be “very convenient for the customers.”

“This feels like what life in the 2050s will be like,” imagined another person. 

Many shared the sentiment that it was quite “cool”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while inaugurating projects worth Rs 34,000 Crore in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh, said that his government is committed to ensuring development across the country. Addressing a rally, he said that there was a time when there was no development in this part of the country, but that has now changed.

“Azamgarh is shining today. There was a time when an event was held in Delhi and people from other states used to attend it. Today, the event is being organised in Azamgarh and people from different parts of the country are attending it,” PM Modi said.

“People in previous governments used to make announcements to deceive people…When I analyse, I find that announcements were made 30-35 years ago. They used to put up a plaque before elections and disappear after that, the leaders disappeared too…Today, the country can see that Modi doosri mitti ka insaan hai (Modi is cut out from a different fabric),” he added.

During the event, PM Modi inaugurated airports in Azamgarh, Shravasti, Chitrakoot, and Aligarh, along with the Maharaja Suhel Dev State University in Azamgarh, constructed at a cost of Rs 108 crore. The infra blitz comes just weeks ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the dates for which are expected to be announced soon.

The Prime Minister though said one must not link these projects with elections and added that he sped up the development works to achieve the dream of a developed India by 2047.

“As Uttar Pradesh is scaling the heights of development, the venom of appeasement is weakening…So, ‘parivarvaadi’ people are baffled and abusing Modi every day. They say Modi doesn’t have a family of his own. They forget that the 140 crore people of the country is ‘Modi ka Parivar'” he said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was also present at the event, expressed gratitude, stating, “What was the identity of Azamgarh 10 years back? Today, PM Modi has transformed Azamgarh, once notorious for criminal and mafia activities, by infusing investments in projects worth crores of rupees.

“Over the past decade, Azamgarh has not only gained a secure environment but has also witnessed the development of modern infrastructure. We extend our thanks to PM Modi for this transformative journey,” he said.

PM Modi also inaugurated a new terminal at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow. Encompassing a land area of 1,11,367 square meters, the terminal includes a spacious basement, a corridor connecting T2 and 13 terminals, and aims to accommodate over 13 million passengers annually.

The estimated construction cost is Rs 1,383 crore. The new terminal features 75 check-in counters, 18 check-in kiosks, 30 lifts, and five escalators. The design and interiors, led by Pascal and Watson, showcase the culture and heritage of Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow International Airport Limited, in partnership with the Adani Group, has leased the airport for 50 years. As part of the agreement, LIAL pays a per-passenger fee (PPF) to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for each domestic and international passenger using the airport.

NEW DELHI: Indian aviation witnessed its first “super Sunday” as PM Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 15 airport projects worth Rs 10,000 crores, including the expansion of Delhi Terminal 1.
He also laid foundation for 782 developmental initiatives worth nearly Rs 34,676.29 crores in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.It includes projects in railway, urban development, road transport, and education, among others.
Addressing a gathering in Azamgarh, PM Modi said, “Azamgarh’s star is shining today. There was a time when an event was held in Delhi and (people from) other states used to attend it. Today, the event is being organised in Azamgarh and people from different parts of the country are attending it.”
Under the airport projects, new terminal buildings would be constructed at Kadapa, Hubballi and Belagavi at a total cost of Rs 908 crores with a combined passenger handling capacity of 95 lakhs per year.
As a part of the project, PM Modi inaugurated new terminal buildings at Pune, Kolhapur, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Delhi, Lucknow, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Moradabad, Shravasti and Adampur Airports.
With a combined capacity of 6.15 crore passengers per year, the 12 new terminals are being built at a total cost of Rs 8,903 crore.
Furthermore, PM Modi inaugurated the Light House Project (LHP) for Lucknow and Ranchi, which includes more than 2000 affordable flats with modern infrastructure.
Additionally, he dedicated approximately 744 rural road projects, worth more than Rs 3700 crore, constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, resulting in the construction of over 5,400 km of rural roads in Uttar Pradesh, benefiting approximately 59 districts in the state.
In order to boost railway infrastructure, he laid foundation stone for gauge conversion of the Bahraich-Nanpara-Nepalganj Road rail section and inaugurated a new rail line from Ghazipur City to Ghazipur Ghat.
It comes a day after PM Modi laid foundation stone for developmental projects worth Rs 55,600 crores including the inauguration of all-weather Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh.
